As we go through life with a partner, it’s inevitable that differences will arise. Understanding our own and our partner’s behavior patterns can often be challenging, especially when conflicts become complex. This is were a third party – a couples therapist – can step in and help you understand the dynamics between you and support you finding constructive ways to navigate them.
Communication is central to any relationship. Through couples therapy, you can improve your communication and trust in each other. Together, we will create a safe space where you can express your feelings and thoughts without fear of judgment or criticism. By building trust, you can feel more connected and strengthen your ability to resolve conflicts in a constructive manner.
In couples therapy, you have the opportunity to delve deeper into your individual and collective patterns and strategies. These can often be unconscious and ingrained and through couples therapy you can begin to understand how they affect your relationship. By becoming aware of these patterns, you can begin to change them and find new, healthier ways to interac.
In the first session, we spend time gaining a mutual understanding of your issues, and together we decide on a common positive goal for the therapy.
All conversations in couples therapy are confidential.
We meet at my office at Østerbro in Copenhagen.
Couples therapy is always 1,5 hours.
On Wednesdays I have late afternoon and evening appointments.

ABOUT SLOTSAGER
I have a dynamic approach and is specialised in ISTDP and EFT.
Intensive Dynamic Short-Term Therapy (ISTDP) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) are both validated methods within psychotherapy and help us navigate emotionally.
Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) is a unique form of psychodynamic treatment that facilitates the rapid resolution of a broad spectrum of emotional difficulties. It is an evidence-based psychotherapy that is strongly supported by current clinical research studies. ISTDP interventions are specifically designed to resolve anxiety, depression, somatization and personality disorders, as well as alleviate a variety of self-defeating behaviors, many of which derive from unstable or troubled early life attachments.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a well-known humanistic approach to psychotherapy formulated in the 1980’s and developed in tandem with the science of adult attachment, a profound developmental theory of personality and intimate relationships. This science has expanded our understanding of individual dysfunction and health as well as the nature of love relationships and family bonds. Attachment views human beings as innately relational, social and wired for intimate bonding with others. The EFT model prioritizes emotion and emotional regulation as the key organizing agents in individual experience and key relationship interactions.
